Ahhh, fall in Maine! Looking for some local color? May we suggest red apples, orange pumpkins and red and yellow falling leaves all around us? You can either pickup a peck from the farmers market (8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays through mid-November) or you can head out to the orchard and pick your own!
We recommend making it a whole afternoon experience, because orchards around here offer pumpkins, hay rides, cider donuts, and sometimes even a corn maze, a petting zoo and live music. Get your phone camera ready! It’s a beautiful drive this time of year through Maine’s backroads filled with colorful maples and blazing bushes.
Spiller Farm in Wells and MacDougal Orchards in Sanford are closest to the Rhumb Line, though there are plenty of orchards in Southern Maine from which to choose. Check out all the offerings here.
